It was an exciting day today. My friend invited me to evaluate a business proposal for him. For the sake of non-disclosure agreement, I won’t disclose any details, but I can direct you to the sources, to do your research. Please note, these resources are for layman due-diligence. None of these resources are designed to substitute legal or professional advice. Microsoft’s Excel is an excellent spreadsheet product and is ideal for Business Evaluation and Financial Management. I found couple of resources that you can use. First one is Matt H. Evans Website. It has a collection of 74 spreadsheets that you may use for business valuation, risk analysis, cash flow analysis and What if analysis. A word of caution: Many of them require enabling macros within Excel.
Second resource is Jaxworks Small Business Spreadsheet Factory. This site has much more than business valuation programs. Some of the spreadsheets are of general interest like 401K planner and yearly planner and other are related with other aspects of business which help you after you start the business, like Employee timesheet, Expense report, Budget planner, sales projections etc.
