Last night I attended a Ruby on Rails presentation by Matt Secoske (you can download and view his presentation here). It was an excellent jaw-dropping presentation. One thing that amazed me was the reduction in coding achieved by using Ruby on Rails. This feature helps programmer to concentrate on business logic and leave the mundane part of background coding to Ruby.
Our speaker Matt Secoske knew what he was doing and made us learn by actually developing a blog application from scratch. For those of you who are wondering what Ruby is and why it is on Rails, Ruby is a Dynamic Programming Language and Rails is a Domain Specific Language. Together, Ruby and Rails are one lethal combination to develop Web applications. Learn more about this dynamic duo over here.
After an interesting presentation, the most obvious thing to do was to find out more about Ruby on Rails and download it. So here is my compilation of resources:
RubyOnRails.org - Matt called this website “mothership”
Then I came across a Ruby on Rails cheatsheet that everyone can use. You can either view this in PDF format or in png format (Courtesy of IloveJackDaniels.com where you can find many other cheatsheets but not Jack Daniels)
Then there are couple of books:
